How do you define yourself in relation to sport or exercise?
And, how has that changed?

Reflecting on ‘who’ we were 5, 10, or 15 years ago can be a fascinating journey.
Were you the 'sporty' kid, the 'gym junkie,' or perhaps, a 'couch potato'?
Because as our self-perception evolves, what we need does to, so understanding this evolution is crucial, not just personally but also professionally.
Identities shape our behaviours, and this is no different in the world of sports and activities. People define themselves with these labels, and just like any relationship, they evolve over time.

Because this is likely to influence if they will do what your offering, and, how you might help them do more of it. 🤔
As James Clear rightly points out, identity shapes behaviour, but behaviour also shapes identity. Each workout, swim, or training session is a vote for who we are and who we want to become.
So (I believe) an exciting role we can play in providing events and activities is to offer a platform for individuals to build their identities, moment by moment, on a journey with us.
Different people have different identities, and acknowledging this is the first step. Tailoring our approach by offering varied emails, social posts, and in person experiences will then connect with and cater for diverse personas. This not only connects individuals with what's right for them but makes them feel valued.
So again, whether finding people with identities that match what you offer or supporting them to build this sense of identity, understanding your audience's self-perception is the key.
If you can interact with triggers that resonate with them, let's see how you can help them and, in turn, help yourself to do the work you need to do.
Let's continue to inspire, engage, and build communities that embrace their identities, so we can all create a more active world, together 💪🌍
