Just like many others, I’ve followed a typical ‘pathway’ in sport… played lots of different sports as a kid, dropped some as a teen, drifted to running as a busy lifestyle needed, tried tri’s, rode more when I couldn’t run as much... and thankfully have gone back into team sports again, for all the great things that brings.
But I am fortunate, and grateful to have had these opportunities.

We know ‘Pathways’ in sport, usually more for the chosen few, but everyone on a journey in sport should have some opportunities put in front of them.
Just like any decent brand would for each customer, we should give people something else to aspire to and support them to experience it with us.
And so, especially with some much diversity, and diverse options in our communities today, it is worth understanding the journeys people have, the influential moments, the challenging roadblocks and friction points, and the crossroads, the potential springboards and sliding doors opportunities.
Because the sum of each moment, across all the phases will decide whether people go on, and stay on, the journey with you.

As the saying tells us, timing is everything, and when you design and deliver your sports experience, timing is an element you must have intention around. Because when something happens has a huge influence on the impact it has.
When we communicate with people plays a big role in whether they will sign up; and when the experience is provided will decide if people will show up.

And, what happens in the times that we interact, influences what they think and feel in those moments in time, and what they will do, and say in the future.
